This past weekend the Eagles ran their way into the record books!  They also got sunburned.  But back the the actual running, jumping and throwing.  We had two event champions, a 5th place finisher, a 6th place finisher, a 7th place finisher, and an 8th place finisher!

Taylor Walters, running in her first ever steeplechase, ran just over 8 minutes and 30 seconds as she covered the 2000 meter race.  Our boys distance medley relay team (Relay where each member of the team runs a 1200, 400, 800, and 1600 meter run in that order) of Easton Moore (1200), Cole Murphy (400), Chryspus Muema (800), and Nathan Wickoren (1600) finished in 7th place (top Kansas school) in just under 10 minutes and 50 seconds.  The girls 4x100 meter relay consisting of Megan Wurts, Sarah Hines, Emily Hines, and Traci Blue qualified for the championship final and finished 6th (2nd among Kansas schools) in a time of 50.37. Marcel Spears improved his personal best by over 5 feel, throwing 55 feet 0.25 inches to get 5th in the shot put.

Our two event champions were the girls 1600 meter relay (4x400) team of Megan Wurts, Traci Blue, Loretta Achoki, and Emily Hines where they bested the field in the Sunflower Showdown running 4 minutes and 13.7 seconds.  This is the 2nd time in the last 3 years that the girls have won the Sunflower Showdown 4x400 meter relay.  Our other event champion was the boys 4x1600 meter relay team of Easton Moore, Wyatt Heikes, Alex Finestead, and Nathan Wickoren.  They covered the 4 miles in 17 minutes and 50.88 seconds. This sets a new meet and stadium record!  In addition this is currently the 9th fastest time ran by a high school team in the nation!
