Rowden wins! Abby Friesen, Girls 4x400 Relay runners up!

After an unusally long break between meets, the Olathe North boys and girls track team competed in the Blue Valley Spring Classic this last Friday, March 29th.
Kai Rowden brought home a first place performance when he soared over the bar at  6 feet 4 inches!  Highlighting the girls side was Abby Friesen who flew down the final 100 meters in the girls 1600m run to end up finishing 2nd, and the girls 4x400 meter Relay (Jabria Leggett, Traci Blue, Loretta Achoki, and Emily Hines) who were in the lead pack the entire relay and ended up finishing 2nd in a very competitive race.
Other notable performaces on the track included Loretta Achoki's very promising start to her season when she ran a personal best 2:24.90 in the open 800m run to place third; A. Friesen was right on Achoki's heels, placing 5th with a time of 2:29.34.  Jyl Stuart was a top 5 finisher in the girls 100m dash where she clocked a very fast time of 13.55.  In the distance races Alex Finestead claimed two 5th place finishes in the boys 1600m run (4:43.54) and 3200m run (10:11.63). 
In the Field events Jessica Sheble maneuvered her way over the high jump bar at 4 feet 10 inches to claim 4th place!  On the boys side Michael Wing had two 4th place finishes where he jumped 20 feet 4 inches and 41 feet 6 and 1/4th inches in the long and triple jump respectively.  Joining Wing with a top 5 finish in the triple jump was Treyvon Hedley with a jump of 41 feet 0 and 1/4th inches, good for 5th place.
